The good news just keeps on coming. After expanding the Bioingredients Plant, Levapan continues to announce its great achievements this year.

Since 2018, the company’s Bioingredients Business Unit, through a multidisciplinary team, set about the task of initiating the procedures to obtain “Non GMO” certification for yeast extracts and beta glucan, until this hard work bore fruit almost two years later.

What does NON GMO mean?

GMO is an acronym that identifies foods whose genetic material has been altered through genetic engineering and are commonly referred to as genetically modified foods. This manipulation is due to several causes, among them:

  • Longer service life
  • That mass production can be generated successfully
  • Minimizing food losses in harvests
  • That crops do not fall prey to pests, etc.

When they are certified as non-GMO, they are immediately guaranteed to remain natural, which translates into healthy food, a growing trend.

Which organization provides this certification?

The organization NON GMO Project (Non-GMO) is a non-profit company whose mission is to protect the non-GMO food supply.

This organization began in 2007 as an idea of independent natural food retailers in the United States and Canada.

Why is it important for companies like Levapan to obtain this certification?

Because it is a seal recognized worldwide and clearly gives a competitive advantage to the companies that have it, in markets that increasingly require more natural ingredients for the production of their products.

Thus Levapan has established itself as a company concerned with continuing to grow, evolving, adapting to new market demands, conquering new niches and thus boosting its sales in this sector.
