Fundada en 1956

Somos una empresa multilatina de origen colombiano fundada en el año 1956. Nos especializamos en la producción y comercialización de levadura, extractos de levadura, potenciadores de sabor; materias primas para la industria de alimentos, panadería y repostería, productos de consumo masivo, gastronomía, agroindustria, proteínas vegetal y animal. Tenemos presencia en 10 países: Colombia, Ecuador, Venezuela, Perú, Brasil, Uruguay, Argentina, Paraguay, República Dominicana y Panamá. Actualmente trabajamos con el propósito de enfrentar y asumir un mercado cada vez más competitivo

1950

The young businessman Guillermo Ponce de león accepts the proposal to exchange his gas station for a yeast factory in a municipality near Bogotá. The factory is reborn with former workers, Guillermo looked for partners for his project. In a small car Renault opened the distribution in Bogota, the average production rises from 800 pounds to 3000 pounds of yeast, Guillermo traveled to the U.S. to seek experts in the yeast sector so new products were developed, dry yeast granulated, baking powder compound and dough improver, vanilla essence and dye.

1955

The company is built in Tuluá Valle del Cauca, which becomes a source of employment and progress for the region.

1957

The Tuluá plant is expanded and the large fermenter that doubled production capacity is built and the first rotary drum is installed to produce dry yeast.

1959

Levapan decides to support the education of the children of Tuluá, building next to the plant the Guillermo Ponce de León School.

1960

A new mass consumption product is developed, gelatine Gel'hada , its quality and diffusion facilitates the development and production of instant puddings and puddings.

1964

Levapan goes international, the Ecuador.

1966

Levapan plant opens in Panama.

1969

The baker's house is born, a place to give courses to the professionals of the sector.

1970

Exports to Venezuela, Dominican Republic, Curacao, Aruba, Trinidad and Tobago, Nigeria, Hong Kong, Saudi Arabia, Singapore and Sri Lanka begin. It also enters the Ecuadorian market with the brand Gel hada.

1973

The yeast factory in the Dominican Republic is inaugurated, and exports to Haiti, Puerto Rico and Miami also begin.

1974

Buy the brand San Jorge, as well as the production plant located in Suba - Bogotá, producing and marketing canned Vegetables, Tomato Sauce, Mayonnaise, Seasoning Sauces, Marmalades, essences and compotes.

1980

In Ecuador, the La Reposterita brand is launched with a complete line of products for preparing desserts at home.

1983

The company T -Vapan is created in partnership with the international company Puratos, specialized in the production of raw materials for bakery, pastry and biscuits as improvers, pre-coated mixes and fillers.

1984

Panama launches to the market a unique innovation at the moment; flavored cornstarches, which become a leading product in the market.

1985

Yeast factory is built in Barquisimeto -Venezuela

1990

Levapan receives the Order of Industrial Merit awarded by the Colombian government in addition to the national award to Great Enterprise for Technological and Business Innovation . The brand San Jorge successfully enters the Ecuadorian market. With the support of the Mayor's Office of Tuluá, the Parque de la Guadua , a family recreation site, is built next to our plant.

1996

Starts operations in Tebicuary - Paraguay with PARALEVA yeast plant.

1997

It opens operation in Peru , in addition, the company participates for the first time in the fair IFT (Institute of Food Technologists) one of the largest and most influential worldwide in the food sector, which means entering markets such as Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia.

1998

The distribution of our yeast extracts is started in USA through the company Savoury Systems International.

1999

Operation begins in Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina.

2001

The Ecuador plant receives ISO certification for product quality assurance.

2002

The Tuluá plant receives ISO certification for product quality assurance.

2010

Levapan acquires the Colombian company Panamericana de Alimentos, and the brand Respin located in Rio Negro - Antioquia and dedicated to the elaboration of fruit nectar, sauces; jams, compotes, drinks with aloe vera, essences and canned, from that moment the operations of the plant of products San Jorge are transferred and the plant of Suba is closed.

2011

A new plant specializing in dry products such as gelatines, micro pulverized sugar, baking powder, dessert base, puddings and Levacolsas flan opens in the city of Bogota.

2012

Levapan acquires participation in the company Nutritec, located in Valle del Cauca, a company founded in 1997 and dedicated to nutrition technology, with it begins the development of products derived from functional yeasts, Celenio, Copper and zinc used in the creation of products for animal and vegetable food as well as the development of products for human consumption such as moisturizing drinks for athletes, nutritious compounds and energizers.

This same year the company Red Star del Perú was acquired with a wide portfolio of products, which for more than 50 years have been present through recognized brands such as Mac Pan ®, Star Pan ® and UF ®.

2013

It acquires a stake in the Dutch company Exter, dedicated to producing hydrolysed vegetable flavours and proteins.

2015

Innpulsa recognizes Levapan as one of the 10 most innovative companies in the country, and a new chapter begins where collaborative innovation takes an important place in the creation of new business opportunities.

In order to strengthen our leadership in the region, a place dedicated to Science and Technology in the bakery sector is opened in Peru, the Advanced Centre for Innovation and Development . This initiative is a great bet to generate innovative products and solutions.

2016

The Colombian government, through Colciencias, recognizes Levapan as a highly Innovative company and also creates the CLIP (Latin American Center for Livestock Research) a scientific unit specialized in research for the production of feed solutions for poultry, pigs, cattle, horses and fish.

Peru consolidates under the name Levapan, leaving behind the name Red Star of Peru and joining the corporate vision of the Group Levapan.

2017

with the aim of further strengthening the flavours, solutions and nutraceuticals business of the industrial division of Levapan, a new plant is put into operation in Tuluá dedicated to the development of yeast derivatives to create functional products such as Glucan.

In Peru the gelatine Gel 'Hada and in Brazil the San Jorge product line is launched, in both countries aimed at bakeries and restaurants.
